Collection: East End Love

BBJ has partnered with East End Arts to bring together a collection celebrating #EastEndLove!

Toronto’s East End has been our home for 2 decades, and our workplace for most of that time too. Though BBJ’s studio relocated to juuuuuust west of Yonge St in 2018, pandemic concerns dictated working from home too, so now there’s also a mini-studio in our living room!

East End Arts is a non-profit community arts organization that serves the east end of Toronto, and works to unite, inspire and enhance the communities of east Toronto with the transformative power of the arts. They provide inclusive arts programming and events to our local communities, and provide professional development opportunities to both emerging and established artists and arts organizations. 💙 A portion of the sales of each piece from this collection goes to East End Arts' youth programs 💙

About the design:

Ange had the idea for a heart-shaped map fragment of the East End. I let the geography dictate the outline: the curves of the Don River, the eastern shoreline and the base of Tommy Thompson Park defined the placement. So if you love the East End and your home is outside the heart, you are included!

The extra-fun part is an opalescent, transparent layer representing water and parklands, like the interplay of nature and city that we love so much about this area.
