Titled “Fay Slift and the Three Bears“, we are offering up a high-camp, adult take on the on the familiar fairytale Goldilocks and the Three Bears.  Drag sensation Fay Slift stars as the delinquent break-and-enter artist who follows her gut – and nose – to the urban home of three gay archetypes and ruins their plans for a party night.  Told through voiceover narration and pop-culture-inspired videos, the story ending falls to the audience to choose from three potential fates for the adventurous and self-indulgent protagonist.

We’re over the moon about the team that’s bringing this to life.  Ladybear Extraordinaire Fay Slift is a drag performance character created by elementary teacher John Paul Kane (along with photographer hubby David Hawe as stylist and image consultant).  We’ve been friends with John Paul for several years and have enjoyed working with him previously as backup for a couple of Fay’s numbers and in Scandelles productions and parties.  Good buddy Kaleb Robertson (Tiny) is a well-connected and much-loved cultural producer and performer-about-town – and onetime BBJ assistant!   He has done many silly things onstage with us over the years, has produced his own one-man “The Me Show” as a Rhubarb special presentation 2011 and created character Miss Fluffy Souffle, Fay’s little drag-sister.   Nina Bunjevac (set/prop design) is a comic artist, illustrator and author of graphic novel Heartless.  John Paul has brought Nina to our team after previous educational and merch collaborations, and we couldn’t be happier to work with her.  Atom Cianfarani (costume design) is a friend we made a decade ago in an overheated tent in Michigan.  This is our first, long-awaited collaboration, and we can’t stop talking about Atom’s fashion work as half of Gaelyn and Cianfarani (she dressed P!nk and Britney, among others).  Rounding out the team is our longtime friend and fellow partiste Cat Nimmo / Kitty Neptune (choreographer and outside eye), and Lindsay Barton (director) whose many talents and skills include both theatre and child psychology… so we’re clearly in competent hands!
